Turning up completley un-announced this was a big surprise but quite a
worthy one. Immediate thoughts that spring to mind are one of Jello Biafra
(Dead Kennedys) singing for Jesus Lizard and for most part this is the best
conclusion.
A very strange band who put things together very well, in a mature and
clever manner. Also throwing in parts like Iceburn, old Cave In, Fugazi and
Mr Bungle. Alot of the influence from this the dark well of late 80's American
punk rock and sleezy cult bands but adding some occasional up to date influences
too.
Relying heavy on dynamics and a musical appreciation that wouldn't be suited
to any listener (not every average Linkin Park fan for example, can understand
the the wit, humour, direction and genius of The Jesus Lizard).
Each song is eagerly anticipated and an unknown quantity until they start
and usually the baffle with unexpectedness. It's quite refreshing to hear
a band like Chang, so stick around there guys and hopefully they can come
up with the goods again, (and maybe send it along my way without me knowing
as well!)
